Extensive Web Site Functionality

Easy-to-use Web Interface — Provides easy and efficient access to all of the content and functionality with a consistent look and feel throughout the product.

User Preferences — Provides users with the ability to configure Market Insight to begin sessions with the companies, industries, countries and reports that they use most.

Text searching — Allows the user to search through the majority of the S&P documents (i.e., Stock Reports, News stories, Long Business Descriptions, etc.). An advanced search option allows the user to search through a specific Company, Industry or Country document type or a set of document types, as well as all EDGAR documents (i.e., 8-Ks, 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 11-Ks, etc.).

Company Screening — The improved screening functionality allows the user to screen for companies. From screen results, the user can select a company to research and the screening results will remain open (in the background) for future reference. Additionally, users can create a report on the fly for the companies that passed their specific screening criteria.

Company & Industry Lookup Lists — Provides the user with company and industry searching capabilities.

Enhanced Help and Administrative tools — Make it easy for the user to e-mail Customer Support, access how-to information, reference materials and data item definitions.

Logout button — Lets users clear the research processes and reset Market Insight for the next user (very useful in a library setting or shared environments).

Market Insight is built on top of the extensive standardized Compustat® database—from financial reports, screening and valuation ratios, users get the quality of Compustat to ensure complete analysis.

Company Data

Company Profile — A snapshot report identifying a company's address, web site, phone number, S&P Sub-Industry, primary SIC, GICS, business description and executive officers, as well as pricing, valuation and return data. (Available for U.S. companies.)

Company Home Page Addresses — Provide links to more than 10,000 company homepages directly from your Market Insight Company Profile.

Long Business Descriptions — Include detailed company descriptions for more than 10,000 companies.

Financial Highlights — Generated daily from the Compustat database, this report provides the latest company data: valuation, profitability, 12 month performance, financial risk, 5-year growth rates and more—plus, the report includes Industry Averages.

Industry-Specific Content — Annual and quarterly reports covering the most frequently reported deep-level operational data that drives company performance. (Industries covered include: Airlines, Health Care Facilities, Homebuilding, Managed Health Care, Mining, Oil & Gas, Oil & Gas Refining & Marketing, and Retail.)

Peer Group — Identifies the ten closest industry peers (based on sales) for a chosen company, and allows comparative analysis for several key data items such as market value, P/E from operations, dividend yield

The reports allow users to track trends with period to period changes and key item charting.

EDGAR — The comprehensive collection of forms (including the 10-K, 10-Q and more) that companies are required to file with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The reports are available in four formats—work, excel, outline and html—and are completely searchable. Current and historical documents are available, back to 1994, where applicable. The reports may also be available for inactivated companies (acquired, liquidated, merged, and gone private).
